What we do in the shadows

What do we do? We take photos. Lots of them. We do video. We record music and foley. We are editing all the time. We do sound design. We write. When I say we I actually mean myself and anyone helping out. I can’t do it alone. That would be boring anyway. I’ve been taking pictures my whole life but didn’t get serious about it until the pandemic hit. Toxic workplaces with an uncertain future led to the decision of jumping ship and treading water alone. So far it’s worked, but only because we have worked hard for it. We will work hard for you too. That’s kinda the whole point.

Like mentioned before, Cullen Studios is a company that specializes in photography, video, editing, and audio work. We are obsessed with that kind of media and live it, breathe it, and always want to improve on our own skillset to better collaborate with people like you.

Regarding capturing photos, we do a lot of lifestyle photography. Lifestyle photography consists of, but isn’t limited to, engagement shoots, wedding shoots, birthdays, events, photos for social media, and photos to be taken just because you want some. It’s a broad subject because everyone is different and wants to do something different.

With commercial photography, we meet with the brand and conceptualize. Plain and simple. It’s a collaboration, always.

Travel photography is my passion, but who doesn’t want to be a travel photographer? Everyone on Instagram basically is in their own right. Capturing the aesthetic and culture of any given area is important. We all live in these microcosmic communities while stacked on top of one another. I feel that capturing the essence of any of that is important.

Selfishly, it helps me have a better understanding of the world and how to navigate it. There is so much beauty in the mundane. What we think is normal isn’t necessarily true anywhere else. We all have different experiences, so I want to share mine with others as they do with me. Those that have shared their experience with me have inspired me to do the same with hopes of passing that torch down to someone else so they get a little light along the way too. It’s all a learning experience, right? All of it really is.

So now that you know what do and why we do it in a nutshell, what is the point of this blog? Search engine optimization, that’s what. True spit. If you’re reading this then, it has worked ( or I have asked you specifically to read this). Why not be fully transparent with you? It’s all a weird game that we photographers play, so any little thing helps.

However, at the heart of my true intentions is to blog a little bit about the story behind the photos and projects. If anything, they are notes to my future self and family. The whole, a picture is made of a million words, thing.I write with the hopes that somebody may get something out of it.

Savannah is rife with creatives and photographers. WIth that energy, it is a blessing and priveledge to live in a place with that kind of creative energy floating around the ether at any given point. But we shoot well past Savannah and into the rest of Georgia and beyond.

If you’ve read this, then thank you. I would love to collaborate with you!
